Murphy’s Law of Haymaking
Posted by Richard under: Hay; Smallholding .
In an effort to increase our stock of winter feed, we had the next door field cut for hay yesterday.
There is quite a bit of thistle, so it’s not perfect, but I spent a few hours picking the worst out with gloves and a pitchfork. The thistle aside, it looks like there is quite a bit of grass, we may get quite a few bales.
The Met Office Atlantic pressure charts looked excellent with a big fat high pressure over the UK for the next week, and the BBC were predicting fine weather - but ITV Weather after the news last night said it would rain….who listens to the ITV Weather report - what do they know.
However, we woke up this morning to a steady drizzle.
Hopefully, things will stay fine now for a good few days and we can get the hay turned, dryed and baled without any further mishaps.
One Comment so far...
